Talk for this Sunday, March 12, 2023

Dropping the Masks and Bushels

— Rev. Corinne Crockett

I have the courage to be vulnerable and let my light shine.

We wear masks in celebration, for fun, and to be safe. Masks that we wear for our hearts may keep us safe until they don’t. Vulnerability empowers us to drop the mask and let our light shine.

Join Rev. Corinne this Sunday, March 12 at 10:30am PT at Studio 9, 1180 Houghton Road, Kelowna, BC. Doors open at 10:15am. Please visit the event page for more details and a map. Everyone is welcome!

If you are not feeling well, please take good care of yourself and watch us on Facebook Live.

This Week’s Science of Mind Theme

Dropping the Masks and Bushels

We all wear masks at one time or another, some more than others. We wear the masks to cover up the true us, and what we are really feeling. Wearing a mask protects us from vulnerability. While inside we want to tell people what is going on in our lives, because we fear rejection, we hide.

Animals in nature can hide right out in the open through camouflage and blending in and, because of our instinct to protect our hearts, minds, and bodies, we may hide and blend in, in various ways. Or by hiding entirely so that we may not be seen.

Having the courage to embrace our vulnerability and let our light shine is the way through to living out loud.

Feel your feelings, all of them. Feel them deeply. You do not have to explain them. Clarify your boundaries. Only say yes to your yeses. You do not have to explain No.

Being vulnerable will always feel vulnerable. When we are vulnerable with those we trust we are also inviting them to be vulnerable with us.

MIND-FULL MOMENT

For no one lights a lamp to set it under a bushel, or to put it in a hidden place; but he sets it on the lamp-stand, that all who go in and come out may see its light.
