What’s New at CSL Kelowna 💗 September 9, 2022

Last Sunday, Rev. Corinne Crockett’s talk, Decisions, Decisions, Decisions! was very well received. You can watch the replay on YouTube. Coming up this Sunday, we will have a special ceremony. Come and join us at Studio 9 (and stay for cake afterwards) or watch us online!

This Sunday’s talk:

Honouring and Celebrating Conscious Evolution

— Dr. Deborah Gordon

“You are a significant, unique, independent, individual soul, who has ventured into this world to expand your awareness of yourself and truth. You are an opportunity for the expansion of consciousness; you are an opportunity for evolution.”

Lorraine Nilon

We are having a special Sunday Celebration where we honour the path of Conscious Evolution within our Centre. We'll be recognizing the path of this evolution by handing out certificates of class completion to our students who took our Foundations class in the spring. We'll be giving out years of service pins to acknowledge the journeys of our Practitioners and Ministers.

We'll also be having an Installation as Minister ceremony for our one our former CSL Kelowna students on her path of ministry. This will all be wrapped with a message about Conscious Evolution, music and ceremony. We'd love to see you there!

Join Dr. Deborah Gordon, our students, our ministers, and our in-person congregation this Sunday, September 11th at 10:30am PT at Studio 9, 1180 Houghton Road, Kelowna, BC. Doors open at 10:15am. Please visit the event page for more details and a map. Everyone is welcome!

If you are not feeling well, please stay at home and watch us on Facebook Live.

This Week’s Science of Mind Theme

Creating a Life that Matters

Each day is an opportunity to embark upon a personal journey to make meaning in the professional arena of life. Wonder is all that is needed to discover what is within, in such a way that life invites us to pour ourselves out into the world over and over again.

The Quakers say, “Let your life speak.” The word ‘vocation’ comes from the Latin ‘vocare’ or voice. Vocation is about listening to the voice of Spirit that lies within and allowing it expression in, through and as us. When your life speaks to you, it invites the Truth to be known first in you (by you), then as you. Vocation is not a title, a role, a job, or an occupation; it is the quiet ‘yes’ whispered to the soul.

When our lives speak for us, they speak words of purpose, intention, and wholeness, bringing us into the allness of who we have been called to be in the world.

Vocation is the thing you must do once you recognize it. Once the noise of the world fades to the background, the voice of your life can be made known, revered, and stand centre stage in a spotlight of love.

As our true vocation begins to emerge, it weaves together the idea of self and the work of service to the world. The beloved work of everyday wonder points us toward our soul’s journey, our profession, embodied as a life that matters.

“You owe it to all of us to get on with what you’re good at.”

— W.H. Auden
