Mother’s Day: Living From the Heart

with Rev. Corinne Crockett

“We must become the change we want to see in the world.”

- Mahatma Gandhi

In celebrating Mother’s Day, we return to the heart and the qualities of the Sacred Feminine, the womb of creation. The qualities of the sacred feminine are within us all, no matter our gender.

Nothing informs our activity in the world more than our values, the space where our inner world is reflected into our outer presence.  Incorporating the qualities of the sacred feminine, accepting them as core values to live from, assists us in being the change we’d love to see in the world.

By consciously directing our energies toward pursuits that resonate with our values, we create a life that is in alignment with who we are, transforming our lives and the world.

Through living from values such as wisdom, care, kindness, and welcome, just some of the qualities of the sacred feminine, life becomes a transformative journey of self-discovery and global transformation.

Last Sunday's Talk

The Love of Community - Stories from Ghana

with Rev. Jeanette Vinek

Last Sunday’s talk was spectacular.  Rev. Jeanette Vinek shared with us some her experiences from her recent trip to Ghana.  The talk was both enlightening and inspirational. If you missed it, or want to watch it again, click here:

Sunday, May 12 - Before and After Service

It’s The Great Book Giveaway this Sunday, May 12. It's great because we're giving away lots of books, and it's great because the books are great! We’re offering a host of books from those remaining from the Centre’s library, free for the taking!

Pride Work Bees & Appetizer Potluck Evenings

Everyone is welcome for these fun evenings!

Last year's Pride Work Bee was a lot of fun

Pride Work Bee & Appetizer Potluck – Everyone is welcome for this fun evening!

When: Wednesday, May 8th, 15th, and 22nd

Where: Studio 9

What time: 6:00 – 9:00 pm

Preparations are underway to create items to give away at the Pride Festival.

We’ll be gathering for a fun, evening work bee to create cooling neck wraps and bookmarks.

We have so much fun gathering to prepare! No level of skill or ability is required, just an ability to lend a hand and have fun doing things together.

We’ll do a potluck appie evening and have a great time on Wednesdays, May 8, 15 & 22ndh, 6:00 – 9:00 at Studio 9.  If you can make all or even part of this fun evening, we’d love to have you join us.

Bring along your favourite appetizer dish for sharing. It’s a fun time of connection.

We’ll also be looking for someone to coordinate this important work, and for volunteers for our booth on the day of the event.  For June 8th, two-hour time slots are open from  9:00 am until 4:00 pm.

We have such a wonderful time; you’ll want to be part of the event.

Again, any time you can come and share your presence is wonderful.

Please contact Rev. Corinne at 250-868-9090 or corinne_crockett@telus.net to sign up, to find out more, or to share your ideas.

Member Spotlight: Blair Wilson

Meet Blair Wilson and Norman. Blair has been a member of CSL Kelowna about four years, but Norman has only recently started attending our services (we think Norman likes coming to the centre when he’s had a “Ruff” day).

Blair says that he and his daughter were looking for a spiritual community that mirrored their beliefs and ideas. When they found us, he felt that he’d found a community that reflected what he supported all along.  Norman says he likes the Centre’s “Paw-sitive” message.

Blair serves on the Centre’s Board of Trustees and was also on the selection committee for our new Senior Minister.  Thanks, Blair, for all that you do, and thanks, Norman, I hope we will be friends fur-ever!

Holmes History: Part 9

The life and times of the founder of Science of Mind

In Part 8 we looked at what Holmes said about his own transition.  In this final chapter, we’ll read some of his more popular quotes.

“Nothing but good is going on out there in the vast reaches of outer space and here in the equally vast reaches of inner space. Everything is in order.”

“Can you afford the consequences of the way you are thinking?”

“The way we think is the way we act, and the way we act is what happens. Law in the universe lets you have what you want- disaster or delight.”

“Love, Law and Loyalty are all the organization we need. The only question we need to ask is this: Do we in our thought, attitude, and the way we live bear witness to the living truth that God is all there is? Make that a policy. That’s all the creed you’ll ever need.”

“One individual with God is a totality, is a completeness, One opinion consistent with the Truth is not a positive statement, but an absolute fact. One announcement from the mind that knows, will set the world on fire.”

“Healing is the discovery of the Divinity within.”

“Science of Mind is based upon the teachings of Jesus and coordinated with philosophy, and other great thinkers of the ages and is destined to become the new religion for the new day.”

“In metaphysical practice we arrive at this conviction through a process of thinking. The process itself is not the conviction; it is the road that leads to it. The student must be willing to subject the mind to self-training until there comes into his thinking a clear realization of the truth which intuition, feeling, and intellect must or may proclaim.”

“One should test the philosophy with intuition and intellect and the results will prove the theory.”

“This study calls for dedication, patience and an open-mind.”
