Last Sunday's Talk
Mother’s Day: Living From the Heart
with Rev. Corinne Crockett
“We must become the change we want to see in the world.”
- Mahatma Gandhi
Rev. Corinne helped us celebrate Mother’s Day, with a talk about the heart and the qualities of the Sacred Feminine, the womb of creation. She reminded us that the qualities of the sacred feminine are within us all, no matter our gender. If you missed the talk, or want to watch it again, click here:
Khalil Gibran on Fear
It is said that before entering the sea
a river trembles with fear.
She looks back at the path she has traveled,
from the peaks of the mountains,
the long winding road crossing forests and villages.
And in front of her,
she sees an ocean so vast,
that to enter
there seems nothing more than to disappear forever.
But there is no other way.
The river can not go back.
Nobody can go back.
To go back is impossible in existence.
The river needs to take the risk
of entering the ocean
because only then will fear disappear,
because that’s where the river will know
it’s not about disappearing into the ocean,
but of becoming the ocean.
~ Khalil Gibran

Ernest Holmes on Peace
We must think peace if we wish to express peace. The mind that is always confused and distraught is not at peace; the mind that is continuously upset and agitated by the little petty things in life is not at peace; it is at war with itself. It is only when the individual mind ceases combating itself that it will stop combating others.
- Ernest Holmes
Inspirational Song of the Week
The Hey! Hey! Song
Barbara Samuel and Neal Klassen
Neal Klassen talks about this song: “I tried to write a Reggae song for our first CD back in 2009. It was called, 'The Hey! Hey! Song,' and someone should have talked me out of it. I never really listened to Reggae and it’s not part of my culture, but I thought Barb could pull it off.
When we finished the recording, I was a little embarrassed by it. I thought the lyrics were a bit too simple and the music didn’t sound authentic. But we put it on our CD anyway, and I privately hoped that people would just skip over it.
A year later I had forgotten about the song, when I ran into someone who had purchased the CD. She told me that she had gone through a rough patch in her life and the only way she could get out of bed was to turn up our CD full blast. And which song did she have on repeat to get her out of bed and start moving? The Hey! Hey! Song.
So, you never know the lives you might touch by saying or doing the simplest thing.”
