Happy Monday, July 5, 2021

Boy was it strange for me to not go to church yesterday as the Sunday Six took a well-deserved Sunday off! It definitely felt abnormal, but I’m getting better at recognizing the value of self-care and taking time off to restore. I hope maybe you took the opportunity to go back into some of our archived talks on YouTube. There are some good “blasts from the past” there for sure.

As it looks like most of our worlds are opening up, it seems like such an auspicious time to welcome on board Amanda Pope, RScP, to our new Executive Director position. Amanda’s wisdom and fresh energy is very much welcomed at this time of re-creation and renewal of our beloved Centre for Spiritual Living Kelowna. I look forward to working with her and our Board of Trustees, in this opportunity to step into a new ‘now’.

I’ve asked Amanda to share some of her thoughts with you today. Here’s her response.

It is a delight and an honour to step into this role and serve our community. I am brimming with excitement as we look forward to reconnecting in person while at the same time continuing to develop our online community. This community has been such an important part of my life for about 15 years and I am delighted to serve in a greater way.

I bring with me a passion for creating community and I am looking forward to the possibilities for the Centre for Spiritual Living Kelowna as we navigate this new post-pandemic world. I plan to provide operational support to Dr. Deborah and the staff ministers and practitioners of our Centre as they do their important work of spiritual leadership in our community. I plan to support the efforts of our generous and committed volunteers as they contribute and develop our community in meaningful ways. I also plan to support the Board of Trustees in building a strong foundation of financial stability to support our organization well into the future.

What I know for sure is that we are all in this together. There is no community without each of us. It is important that we all have a voice in and contribute to creating our future. As I step into this role, I’d love to hear from you. What is most important to you about our Centre? What type of in-person or online gatherings would you like to see? How would you like to participate in creating our future? Please reach out to me at amanda.pope@hey.com. I look forward to working with all of you.

Take care,

Amanda

Welcome, Amanda, and Happy Birthday to you today, July 5th!

One of our first opportunities to come back together will be our Park Meet and Greet next Sunday, July 11th at 1pm in Kinsmen Park (close to the Peace Centre). Everyone is welcome to drop by, say hello and connect. Out of respect for our uniqueness, your Board of Trustees is asking for this event, that we refrain from hugs, and do our best to honour social distancing. Your use of a mask is up to your individual discretion.

I so look forward to this!

Blessings, Dr. Deborah
