Happy Monday, July 19, 2021

Hi Everyone,

First of all, I would like to thank our new Executive Director, Amanda Pope for writing our Happy Monday message last week while I took a few days off. I can’t express how wonderful it was for me to have her share some of her thoughts about her first week and a half in that new position.

It was also really wonderful to take a few days off and head out into my perfect idea of ‘camping’. My daughter and her family were camping just outside of Whistler ski mountain and she said to me: “Why don’t you and dad come with us?” Now, she knows I’m not much of a nature gal, so when I said, no thanks, she instantly offered me the perfect solution. She said: “I didn’t mean you should come and tent with us. You and dad could get a hotel room, and come and visit us at our campsite!” It indeed was the perfect solution, a nice comfy bed in a wonderfully air-conditioned hotel room at night with camping, hikes and outdoor food during the day. We even had s’mores! What could be better?

It was good for my soul to get away as I’ve been spending a lot of time (maybe way too much time) in a chair, in front of my computer with all our online and virtual happenings these days. The change of pace, venue and sights were much overdue!

Also, I want to say how very much I loved our casual in-person time together here in Kelowna at Kinsmen Park on July 11th. It was so great to actually see and be present with those that came. To be honest, I was a little nervous beforehand. I wasn’t sure how it would feel after 16 months apart. Would I remember names? Would it feel awkward? But it felt like that time had just collapsed into nothing (which we know isn’t true). The warmth and familiarity was just like being with old friends, as if no time had passed at all. It was delightful to meet some brand new people as well. Thanks to everyone who came for making it so wonderful! Also, thanks to Terri and Tim Perrin for bringing Freezies, which made it all the more fun to be together!

I’m really looking forward to our in-person Sunday service experience on August 22nd at The Vibrant Vine Winery. For those in other locations (or those not quite ready for being together), we’ll also be livestreaming that service, which is our commitment to our virtual community.

Love and Blessings, Dr. Deborah

Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books.
