Dr. Bob Deen, former Director of Ministerial Education for CSL and the former President of Holmes Institute.

Sunday October 20, 10:30 - 11:30

READY, SET, GO.... POWER TOGETHER

Rev. Dr. Bob Deen

This month's exploration of Power now turns toward Collective Power.

The great social scientist Margaret Mead declared, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it's the only thing that ever has."

Starting with ourselves, our families, CSL Kelowna, and our world, what needs to change? What do you desire for the world in which you live? How do we come together, celebrating each one's individual values, discovering our collective values, and becoming the change we want to see?

You've taken the next step, engaged a Spiritual Leader, now it's time to get on with it.

This is not about moving backward, but a call to move forward into a bold new expression of (y)our life together. as Centre for Spiritual Living Kelowna. Who knows, maybe you'll change the world while you are at it.

Rev. Dr. Bob Deen is an ordained minister in Centers for Spiritual Living.

He is the former director of Ministerial Education for CSL and was President of Holmes Institute from 2014-18. He is currently serving the Interim Ministry program, facilitating online Professional Practitioner education, and living it up in this amazing world of ours.  He brings a healing presence of humor, joy, and love.

Join us at Studio 9 (1180 Houghton Rd, Kelowna, BC V1X 2C9). Doors open at 10:15am. Enter the property by the side entrance behind the staff parking lot. Look for our signs to guide you! Please use street parking or park at Ben Lee Park (1.5 blocks away).

Or you can always watch our live stream on Facebook Live via Centre for Spiritual Living Kelowna's Facebook page.

After the service, you can find all talks on our YouTube channel.

Last Sunday’s Talk

with Rev. Diane Hockey

REV. DIANE HOCKEY had us charged up with her talk last Sunday: Power to the People.  We hear much talk about shifting to clean power that doesn’t pollute our world. Rev. Diane asked the question, can we do the same with our relationship to our personal power? Rev. Diane shared examples of what it’s like to live life from a grounding of clean, inner power.

Monday Night Book Study Continues

With Rev. John DePalma

Monday, October, 6:30-8:00 pm

Monday Nights with Rev. John: Book Study of “Creating the Beloved Community” continues October 21st, 6:30-8:00 via Zoom.

Creating the Beloved Community… Update!

We had a great meeting Monday night again with lively discussion about what it’s going to take to create the Beloved Community! Dipped our toes into “Spiral Dynamics”- a model and map of the evolution of consciousness and a direction to go in.

Next Monday (week 7) we’ll be diving into Chapter 5 “The Spiral and Community.”

“Don’t search for heaven and hell in the future. Both are now present. Whenever we manage to love without expectations, calculations, negotiations, we are indeed in heaven. Whenever we fight, hate, we are in hell.

~ Shams Tabrizi

The evolution of consciousness has brought us to this point but to evolve further we must develop the willingness to go deeper and an awareness of what that means.

Everyone is welcome to join in what promises to be an interesting conversation about the map and path moving forward! I invite and encourage you to read the introduction and Ch 1 to Chapter 5 to get a sense of what’s possible in the Beloved Community, so you can be fully engaged.

When logging in make sure your name and video are on so we can get to know one another a little better. This can be especially helpful for me as the newbie in our community, to help me connect names with faces! Also remember you can interact with chat and by using the “raise your hand” icon in the reaction drop down. I’m looking forward to seeing you all Monday night!

Here is the Zoom Link for the evening:

Monday Nights with Rev. John is a 10-week exploration of the book, Creating the Beloved Community, by Rev. Dr. Jim Lockard, a well-known and respected leader within the New Thought movement.

If you don’t have the book, you can join anyway, but your experience of these sessions will be enhanced through reading the book.

This book is available in paper-back or kindle version at amazon.ca.

WHAT? CHRISTMAS ALREADY?

CSL Kelowna Annual Celebration of Light

Monday, December 16, 7:00 pm,

Mary Irwin Theatre in Rotary Centre for the Arts

Hey, if Costco can start selling Christmas decorations in September, we can start promoting our Annual Celebration of Light in October!

This year we’re going to be at the Mary Irwin Theatre for a special Monday night service on the theme of “One Voice” – a reminder that together we can make a better world.

Rev. John will deliver an inspirational message, while Sista B and the Boyz will provide seasonal music.

The service will feature special guest vocalist, Delphine Litke – which is always a treat.  And, of course, Rev. Barbara Samuel will knock the roof off the theatre with her version of “Oh! Holy Night.”

Plan to bring a friend (or two or three) for this wonderful, magical evening.

INSPIRATIONAL SONG OF THE WEEK

Be Still

Nathen Aswell

Nathen Aswell is performing songwriter, inspirational speaker and soon to be author. Music and community have always been the two most important aspects of his journey, and he is committed to living a life of loving service.  We have been fortunate as CSL Kelowna to have had Nathen perform on our stage many times.  His credo is “Small Steps Big Life”. It is only by taking small steps that we each become our fullest expression.
