Sunday, September 1

You Are a "Peace" of the Jigsaw

Rev. Melody Bailey

Our monthly theme for September is Pieces into Peace and my talk this coming Sunday is titled: You are a “Peace” of the Jigsaw where I look at bringing peaceful wholeness out of the broken pieces of our lives.

What I know about Peace, is that it is an inner state of calm, nothing can disturb it, it is sought by multitudes, found by some and a mystery to many.

Why do we search for peace?  Even when we are addicted to chaos, at some point in our life we will just want a quiet mind and calm joy in our life experience.

We do not really want to be antagonistic towards each other but may find this to be our experience when we forget who we truly are and that we are all ONE.

This is when we bring our focus back to being the peace we wish to see and experience in the world.

There is a definite feeling that exists when things and people are peaceful; a relaxing experience of living a type of feeling and, it certainly includes a greater awareness of oneness.

When I am Peaceful, I am full of peace and aware of the unity of everything.

I radiate peace and bring that peaceful feeling with me wherever I go. I attract more peace into my life.

Peace is the nature or our being; as we partake of the Divine attributes we must then BE Peace. As Thich Nhat Hanh stated “Every breath we take, every step we make, can be filled with peace, joy and serenity.”

A quick tool for your spiritual toolkit is one I found online: peace mudras. There were quite a few but the most common one seems to be Gyan Mudra that is said to bring peace, calm, aid spiritual progress and can be used, anytime, anywhere – particularly while meditating.

To do this, bring your thumb and index finger into a circle shape joined at the tips and spread your other fingers out – hold for 30 – 60 seconds.

As you practice this Gyan Mudra throughout your days, I offer a blessing of peace, Peace be unto you; and all humanity.

Thanks,

Rev. Mel

LAST WEEK'S TALK

Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll.... and $$$$$

Rev. Barbara Samuel

THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE... But you can save them for the Birds and Bees, I want money!  Last week Rev. Barb was on fire, talking about Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll.... and $$$$$.

She spoke with a passion that would have shaken Southern Baptists out of their seats!

Neal's Science Corner pondered the ancient mystery: If it's "a penny for your thoughts," but to give your opinion is to give your "two cents worth," who is getting that extra penny?

We’ve heard from some people that they are unable to purchase tickets to the Gala on their cell phones.  When they click on the Events Link all they see is a blank page.  This is a bug that we’re trying to sort out, but in the meantime, if you just scroll down that blank page – quite a ways – you will get to the Events.

Fasten your seat-belts for a different Sunday experience

as we try something new and exciting in the fall

Four Agreements Workshops:

  • Sundays: Sept 15 & 22nd, October 6th, & November 10th.

  • 10:30 am-12:30 pm

  • Studio 9 – 1180 Houghton Road, Kelowna BC

Cost:  Gratitude Offering

For these four Sundays, we’ll be extending our Sunday Service time to 2-hours (10:30-12:30) as Rev. John DePalma offers a hybrid Sunday service/workshop on the Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz.

This small book outlines four principles for living a meaningful life: to be impeccable with our words, not take things personally, never make assumptions, and always do our best.

Diving deeper into these principles empowers us to make practical application of these simple, yet powerful principles to our lives.

Inspirational Song of the Week

Taking Me Higher

Keb' Mo'

With five GRAMMYs, 14 Blues Foundation Awards, and a groundbreaking career spanning nearly 50 years under his belt, Keb’ Mo’s got nothing left to prove. Just don’t tell him that. “I may be turning 70,” Keb’ reflects, “but I’m still breathing and I’m still hungry. I’m still out there going for it every single day.”
