If you saw our Sunday service yesterday, you already know this wonderful news, and if you didn’t, I’m delighted to share this with you here.
Our Centre has officially hired a new Assistant Minister, Rev. Corinne Crockett. We’re blessed to have her and we’re super blessed that she’s said yes to us and this opportunity.
I want to share with you a little of the background to this.
My sense is that not having been able to be together over these last two years has definitely had an effect on our experience of being the tight knit community that we’ve been for the last almost 30 years. And so, to have someone whose gifts are community-building and what I’d call Pastoral Care (caring for our peeps), is the next trajectory for our growth.
Because for sure, without you — without our community — we’d have no reason to exist. We would just be teaching and preaching (to use an old phrase) to ourselves. So community (our common unity) is one of my highest priorities for us.
Let me share a few of Rev. Corinne’s many work experiences and qualifications that she comes to us with. These are beside being a licensed minister here at CSL Kelowna for the past 8 years and having served as our Board president, head of our practitioners, coordinator of our Compassionate Care Team, coordinator of our Wednesday mid-week services and being part of our Education committee and teacher extraordinaire, as well as serving on our Ceremonies Committee and leading Tom’s Jam night. These were all services directly related to our Centre. As if they aren’t amazing credentials on their own, in the greater world she also:
is a weekly New Thought Columnist on Castanet;
facilitates a Course in Miracles group;
is part of Spiritual Health Services and a registered Pastoral Care visitor at Kelowna General Hospital;
is involved in grief work both within and outside of Kelowna Hospice;
is a certified Ho’oponopono Practitioner, a Mindfulness Facilitator and a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner;
has been an Instructor of nursing at UBC and has loads of experience as a nurse.
All of these accomplishments and recognitions are nothing compared to the love, compassion and wisdom that I’ve had a personal opportunity to witness and experience from this amazing woman, and she’s here for all of us in that same way.
I just wanted you to know, we are all in very, very good hands offering love and support to our community.
Rev. Corinne will also work closely with me in the Spiritual Leadership of our Centre. I just happen to know she’s also great at operations and administration. She’ll be supporting moving toward my retirement and the selection of your next Senior Minister. (Just in case anyone was wondering, Rev. Corinne is here to support that process and won’t be taking over as Senior Minister.)
So, all is well and very well in the evolution of our beautiful Centre for Spiritual Living Kelowna!
Love and many blessings,
Dr. Deborah
