Visit to the Jewish Community Centre – “L’Dor - V’Dor: Generation to Generation”
Our most recent Okanagan Multi-Faith gathering at the Kelowna Jewish Community Centre was an enriching and heartfelt experience for 11 of our members along with multiple faith traditions in Kelowna.
The Okanagan Multi-Faith Community began through the deep respect and genuine friendships formed within the KGH Spiritual Advisory Team. As we witnessed rising polarization, racism, and division in the larger world, we felt called to stand together publicly as Communities of Faith—modelling unity, understanding, respect, and compassion.
This gathering brought those intentions beautifully to life.
December 7th , we were welcomed into an inspiring presentation titled “L’Dor V’Dor,” meaning
Generation to Generation warmly hosted by the Jewish Community. This theme wove together the history of the Judaic tradition with meaningful, fun explanations of the rituals, foods, and practices that keep ancestral stories alive within Jewish culture today. We witnessed how history becomes embodied, how memory is carried forward, and how identity is nurtured across generations.
Following the presentation, we enjoyed an amazing and delicious variety of traditional Jewish foods, each holding symbolic meaning within the faith. Sharing these foods created a warm, communal atmosphere of hospitality and connection.
As a Trans-denominational Teaching and Philosophy, our teaching of Religious Science holds a natural affinity for this work. Ernest Holmes so brilliantly distilled the universal spiritual principles found at the heart of the world’s great traditions. In that spirit, we honour all paths to the Divine and embrace the sacred wisdom each tradition offers. These gatherings give us the opportunity to see those shared Truths reflected, again and again.
We were reminded that when we gather in a spirit of openness and curiosity, we discover how much we share across our traditions—and how spiritually enriching it is to learn from one another. These gatherings strengthen the fabric of unity and compassion in our Okanagan and affirm the importance of standing together in these times.
The dates for our January Multi-Faith gathering will be coming soon.
