What’s New at CSL Kelowna 💗 May 13, 2022

Writer: CSL KelownaCSL Kelowna

Oh how fun it was to fill up a classroom with our community last Sunday! It was cosy and felt like old times. As we use different venues with new livestream set ups, we have had a few technical issues. But each time, we learn, adjust, and it is going to get better. Thank you for hanging in there with us! We love how everyone has been showing up to be together in person and online!

This Sunday’s talk:

Fear, Frustration and Chicken Feathers

— Neal Klassen

“Peace comes from the absence of fear.

Ernest Holmes

Fear is a natural and perfectly healthy reaction in certain circumstances. But sometimes, irrational fears can hold us back from achieving our greatest desires. Neal Klassen takes us on a journey through fear, frustration and an enlightening experience with chickens on a farm to explain how to find inner peace by conquering fear.

Join Neal and our in-person congregation this Sunday, May 15th at 10:30am PT. Doors open at 10:15am. Please visit the event page for the address and parking details. Everyone is welcome!

If you are not feeling well, please stay at home and watch us on Facebook Live.

This Week’s Science of Mind Theme

If You’re Happy and You Know It

This fun children’s song is a pure depiction of happiness and joy, even if someone is feeling sad. It is a song of declaration and affirmation. The song has us proclaim and follow along with the gestures, “if you’re happy and you know it clap your hands, stomp your feet, and shout hooray” one verse at a time. Just the act of participating with the song makes us feel better and smile. It brings gladness to our hearts and takes us from where we are to a different state of mind.

Let’s sing, dance, hum, laugh, smile and shout from a happy place because we’re alive! No matter what’s going on, let’s celebrate life and the joy of living. We have the chance to start anew and make it a great day, every day.

Happiness stems from a state of mind and an attitude. We can choose to shift our attitude by focusing on something that brings us joy, whether from a memory or doing something that is pleasing. Focusing on gratitude and our many blessings is a way to make us even happier than we already are.

The way to happiness is through gratitude. Find joy in even the smallest miracles and blessings. Look for the unexpected to shift the view. The “act as if” principle is all about turning one’s attention to what we want to accomplish, not necessarily what is happening right now. This is the mental equivalent that eventually comes to pass.

Many people look outside themselves for happiness and rely on others to make them happy. Happiness comes from within. It is unrealistic to rely on others for happiness. Happiness is an inside job and it starts with the individual. When we individually choose to live from happiness, peace and joy, we can also make a positive impact on others. When we do our part, happiness not only positively enhances our lives, but it also enhances the whole.
