We are a day early for this week’s blog post. We have plenty to share regarding upcoming events! See it all below.

This Sunday’s talk:

— Dr. Deborah Gordon, Rev. Corinne Crockett and Dr. Kenn Gordon

“Being blessed is a condition of the heart and a frame of mind.”

Blessings Abound, Holiday Gift Box Sunday and Luncheon

This is a special sacred service: a day of honouring and gratitude. We’ll be having a different Sunday format than we're used to, featuring Dr. Kenn, Dr. Deborah and Rev. Corinne, as well as Irene Kowalchuk, our longest-serving spiritual practitioner.

Coming together in community is so important during this time of transition; your presence and membership is vital in the growth and evolution of our Centre.

Please grace us with your presence in sacred ceremony as Drs. Kenn and Deborah extend each person blessings and a gift, with an opportunity to bless and be blessed.

Plan to stay for a simple lunch provided by the Centre, and spend time in connection and community.

Everyone is welcome!

Join Drs. Deborah and Kenn Gordon, Rev. Corinne Crockett and our in-person congregation this Sunday, December 11th at 10:30am PT at Studio 9, 1180 Houghton Road, Kelowna, BC. Doors open at 10:15am. Please visit the event page for more details and a map. Everyone is welcome!

If you are not feeling well, please stay at home and watch us on Facebook Live.

This Week’s Science of Mind Theme

Ode to Joy

How do we begin to work together, so that we can create a larger container that demonstrates a world that works for everyone? This begins at the individual level, but it can also be expressed at the collective level by the way we choose to be in community together.

Science of Mind seeks to recognize wholeness through all things. As such, the aim is not to deny what is before us, but to seek to understand, so that a greater idea can be revealed. Illusions of separation, conflicts and disagreements, direct us toward areas in need of attention, exploration and illumination. In this way, greater ideas can be born, as we collectively spiral upward toward a new future.

As within, so without. Just as the individual craves belonging, it is equally important that the community be welcoming to individuals. Community is the result or demonstration of the interplay between individuals. This comes through intimate conversation, using our best communication skills to welcome and explore, so we can midwife the birth of a bigger idea.

How do we get the high view of life? We all know what it’s like when things work together. It’s like listening to a symphony – the greater whole does not exist without each instrument playing its part. Elevating our thoughts away from our individual selves and into a space where we can see the greater whole, creates space for the symphony of humanity itself to truly express.

“The community we belong to is all of life.”

— Margaret J. Wheatley

The Christ Consciousness of a Child

If you missed last Sunday’s service titled The Christ Consciousness of a Child, you can watch the replay on YouTube.

Tracy Guerreiro and her son, Daniel, showed us how they do a special spiritual mind treatment together.

Daniel also sang Holly, Jolly Christmas.

We kicked off the Secret Santa drive for CSL Kenya. See details below.

Secret Santa Campaign for CSL Kenya

CSL Kelowna is promoting the Secret Santa Campaign for CSL Kenya. This is an opportunity for us all to do some meaningful Christmas shopping!

While any donation is wonderful, each donation of $50 will support a child to be fed for a month, and provide Christmas dinner for their family, or support one of the 11 teachers who work without a wage.

These donations can be gifted to your loved ones as a way of giving a gift that will change lives!

Visit the CSL Kenya Secret Santa page for more information and to donate.

Celebration of Light

Make sure you attend our 30th Annual Celebration of Light on December 18th at the Rotary Centre for the Arts! This event is once again created and produced through the genius of Neal Klassen.

Our theme this year is “The Brightest Star that Shines…” As has been our tradition for these many years, we'll have a time together of holiday joy!

Sista B and the Boyz will light up the theatre with seasonal music, Dr. Deborah Gordon will welcome us in coming together to bring more light into the world and Dr. Kenn Gordon will provide one of his inspirational holiday messages as a gift for everyone.

This is our wonderful holiday tradition that’s perfect to invite your friends and family to attend as well.

The Rotary Centre for the Arts has given us permission to invite all of you to bring along some holiday finger foods to share with our community for a time of warmth and fellowship. We have so enjoyed that generous tradition in past years. See the event details.

Practitioner Support

Our ministers and practitioners are in service to all of us. If you need help to see the Truth in a situation; if you are looking for clarity; if you are struggling in this challenging time; our ministers and practitioners are here to support you. You can contact them through the About page on our website, or you can submit a prayer request on the Contact page.

Nature’s Fare Receipts Help CSLK!

Keep collecting your Nature’s Fare receipts; they are worth a pretty penny to us! Just put receipts from your shopping into the receipt box at the back of the Studio 9 auditorium on Sundays, and Nature’s Fare will donate 3% of the total of your purchases to CSL Kelowna! Every receipt helps! Thank you!

MIND-FULL MOMENT

Safe space in spiritual community is not about eliminating discomfort – it is providing a supportive place where we can experience the inevitable discomfort of deep personal introspection and spiritual growth with support and understanding.
