The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly

The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly

— Neal Klassen

“Release old concepts and energies that keep you in self-punishment patterns. Release old stories and create from a place of love and self-validation. You are worth it.

Guatama Buddha

Most of us know the children’s song about the old lady who swallowed the fly. It was just a small thing, really — the fly. Yet swallowing that fly set off a chain of bizarre choices that led to disastrous results for the old lady. This Sunday we’ll explore how small things can lead to self-destructive thoughts and behaviours, and we’ll talk about ways to create new stories.

Join Neal on March 6th at 10:30am for our livestream service on Facebook Live, YouTube or the home page of our website.

Tune in early at 10:20am to hear the music of New Thought musician, Gary Lynn Floyd.

The SOM theme for March is Living Everyday Wonder Play. Spirit created each of us with an overflowing capacity for Joy, Balance, and Freedom. Yet our human tendency is to get caught up in the busyness of the world and forget to engage these essential aspects of our Divine selves. Play is a sacred activity, absolutely necessary for our complete expression in this life. Play connects us with wonder and creativity. Play heals the body, mind and heart. It connects us with others and inspires our greater yet-to-be.

This Week’s Science of Mind Theme

Playing Twister with God

Between meditation, prayer and contemplation, who has time to play? Joy and Freedom are Divine qualities, too. Spirit is dancing around, in and through us all the time, calling us to celebrate it all, the serious and the silly. What if, at the end of the day, we are all just playing Twister with God?

We need to be open to the idea that Spirit is more than just a proper, serious grown-up. Rather, Spirit is the All-That-Is; there is no silliness you can find that is outside of God.

As in the game Twister, we are continually intertwining in unexpected ways with Infinite Spirit. Life changes, surprises, failures, wild successes all happen. The entire Universe is shifting us in a million tiny ways and holding us up at the same time.

When we make the space inside ourselves to really laugh, to live in the expression of Joy, we are being our most God-Self. Seek ways to play, to giggle and to celebrate the beauty of a life spent playing Twister with God!

In-Person Service at the RCA

We will be together again for an in-person service at the Mary Irwin Theatre in the Rotary Centre for the Arts (RCA) on March 13th. Please RSVP on the In-Person Sunday Celebration event page if you would like to attend.

Please note that the theatre in the RCA requires all attendees to show their BC Vaccine Card. The service will also be livestreamed on Facebook Live, YouTube and the home page of our website.

Open House at the Peace Centre

If you’d like the opportunity to say an informal, personal goodbye to our Pandosy Peace Centre, which has been our classroom and office space for the last 21 years, you’re invited to head over to 2490 Pandosy Street (corner of Pandosy and Morrison) on March 13th right after our in-person service at the Rotary Centre for the Arts. Drs. Deb and Kenn will be there to open the doors, greet you and do a little reminiscing as you say your farewell to this space that has held such wisdom, love, and has been such a wonderful home base for us over these many years. See more details on the Open House event page.

Releasing Ceremony

We’ll also be having a more formal farewell and Releasing Ceremony on Saturday, March 26th at 10:30am at the Peace Centre. This will be conducted by Dr. Nadene Rogers. Dr. Nadene is creating a special ceremony for us as a group to facilitate our conscious closure of the Peace Centre. She’ll create a special opportunity for us to say a tender and heartfelt thank you and goodbye to our building. We’d love to see you there. Conscious endings create a beautiful fresh energy for wonderful new beginnings of our next greater yet-to-be. We hope you can join us.
