Out With the Old and In With the New
— Rev. Christy Snow and Dr. Deborah Gordon
“If we insist on waiting for the world to change before we will be happy, we will have a long wait. When happiness is conditioned on the choices of others, it is out of our hands. Rather than a reactive process, true happiness is an inside-out process beginning in the heart and spiralling outward. When true happiness is present, the world does change. Inner joy is the cause, happiness the reaction.”
— Dr. Jim Lockard
During this time on the planet, it serves all of us to remember that life isn’t just about what happens to us — it’s about who we choose to be within the experience of what’s happening.
At this time of the New Year, much attention in our culture is focused on the idea of making New Year’s resolutions. However, here at the Centre for Spiritual Living Kelowna, we’re not so much tied to the idea of resolutions as such — but we're certainly clear about cleansing our minds and emotions and setting the stage for new possibilities.
Dr. Deborah Gordon, along with our guest musical and meditation inspiration, Rev. Christy Snow, will guide us in doing some conscious work on revealing our best selves and our best futures by engaging in a spiritual practice to release what no longer serves us, replacing that with our best intentions for our future selves and the future of our world.
Join Dr. Deborah and Rev. Christy on January 2nd at 10:30am on Facebook Live.
Tune in early at 10:20am to hear the music of New Thought musicians, Barb Samuel and Neal Klassen.
The SOM theme for January is Living Everyday Wonder. Spiritual living doesn’t just happen on the meditation cushion or on Sunday mornings. Spiritual living is a way of life that happens every moment of every day. It is applying spiritual tools and principles to every area of our lives on a regular and consistent basis — a daily basis. When we do so, life flows more easily, choices are clearer, and miracles are everyday occurrences. There is wonder in every day just waiting for us to live it!
This Week’s Science of Mind Theme
Living Everyday Wonder
It is in our daily life that we encounter the Divine. The Wonder of Spirit is everywhere. We can’t escape it because we are inseparable from it. It is our truest essence. When we become conscious of It and live in our awareness of It, our daily experiences become opportunities for transformation and for our individual and collective evolution.
Many of us go through the motions of daily life unaware of the beauty that surrounds us and is within us. We wait for something spectacular or rare to inspire us. Something spectacular has already inspired us, already breathed Life into us, and continues to maintain and sustain us with every breath.
The more we are conscious of our own truest essence — our Divinity and our Oneness with all — the more every aspect of our individual lives is transmuted into a higher expression of Life. It is in the daily that we encounter the Divine.
Personal and global transformation happen in our daily lives and in our everyday experiences. The Truth is there is only One Life and we are all One. The Truth is there is only the Eternal Now and in it all is truly well!
