This Week’s Science of Mind Theme
The Paradox Mindset
In Science of Mind, Ernest Holmes reminds us to remain “open at the top.” One of the ways in which we can do this is through embracing and developing a paradox mindset.
The word paradox comes from the Greek 'para' meaning “contrary to” and 'doxa' meaning “opinion”. The Latin term 'paradoxum' means “seemingly absurd, but really true.”
The paradox mindset is the ability to hold and consider two seemingly opposed ideas at the same time. Living our Science of Mind teaching requires a paradox mindset, as we are consistently pulled in the two seemingly opposite directions of seeing all as Oneness while also being confronted with the suffering and brokenness of the world. A paradox mindset allows us the freedom to simultaneously hold both of these ideas in our minds without a need to “solve” a problem.
We must embrace the inevitable paradoxes of life if we are truly to create a world that works for everyone. It is when we open to multiple opposite and contradictory ideas being true at the same time that we find the possibilities and solutions we never imagined were possible.
Love Wins
Last week was a Soul Food Sunday with Rev. Barbara Samuel and Neal Klassen. The talk title was Love Wins.

BC Thanksgiving Food Drive
A small but mighty crew of volunteers helped pick up food donations for the BC Thanksgiving Food Drive last Saturday, September 23.
"Tracy Anderson did a wonderful job of organizing," said our assistant minister, Rev. Corinne Crockett. "We also had people bring food to the Centre and some took bags and dropped food off at the Food Bank themselves. I love how our CSL community is extending our good into our local area!"
A huge thank you to everyone who participated!
Left to right: Dan, Pam, Magda, Deborah, Tracy, Rev. Corinne and Jean.
(Shout out to Tom, who took photos and drove for both events.)
Walk of Memories
It was perceived that the Walk of Memories this past Sunday, Sept. 24, was the most well-attended of all the years since it began! The event had 50+ volunteers with Rev. Corinne Crockett at the helm. Thank you to the many CSLK volunteers that were key in supporting this event.
More photos coming soon!

MIND-FULL MOMENT
“The riddle of the universe is a paradox. The question is its own answer, for the mind that asks the question is also of the Mind that answers it.”
