This Week’s Science of Mind Theme

Standing on Shiva

There is a Hindu story of a battle taking place between the gods and demons. The demons were winning, and the gods turned to Durga (goddess of compassion and mothering) to do something. Out of her forehead sprang the fierce warrior goddess Kali. Kali proceeded to destroy the demons, but in her frenzy she began killing everyone. Shiva, the destroyer of illusion, threw himself under her feet, allowing her to come to herself and stop mindlessly killing.

When we go to war with conditions, we can get lost in the battle, forgetting our real purpose. Grounding in Truth brings us back to remembering.

The spell of illusion can sometimes drive us crazy. There is so much to do, so many “demons” to slay. We can get pulled off our knowing of Truth. As we remember our 10 Spiritual Principles (including Oneness, Love, Creation, Spiritual Beings, Spiritual Laws, Heaven, and more), we wake up from our craziness. We stop killing off what we wanted to save.

Out of our compassion for the world, we must take action to alleviate suffering. Without action, we are just pitying spectators. Our action will be far more effective if we understand what really needs to happen and what we are really seeking to create. If we are truly committed to creating a world that works for all, we will be called outside of our comfort zone.

Got Me Hypnotized

Last weekend. Rev. Corinne Crockett gave a talk titled Got Me Hypnotized.

Cheryl, Pauline and Irene arrived with the ice cream and toppings for our Sundae Service!

Rev. Barbara Samuel and Neal Klassen provided the music.

Rev. Barb invited the children on stage for a bit of dancing!

Rev. Jeanette Vinek shared announcements and a reading from the book:

365 Science of Mind: A Year of Daily Wisdom from Ernest Holmes.

Rev. Melody Bailey led an affirmative prayer before the service.

After service, people lined up for the Sundae Service.

Pauline served up the ice cream while Lori helped with the toppings.

There were all kinds of toppings to choose from (these are just a few of them)!

Everyone enjoyed the treats!

Watch the full service on YouTube.

Co-creating Community Sessions

August to October

As Rev. Jeanette Vinek said in Happy Monday on July 3, there are many opportunities to be involved in our community's co-creation process. Help identify who we are and what qualities we want to attract in our new Senior Minister, by participating in the following events.

Practitioner Support

Our ministers and practitioners are in service to all of us. If you need help to see the Truth in a situation; if you are looking for clarity; if you are struggling in this challenging time; our ministers and practitioners are here to support you. You can contact them through the About page on our website, or you can submit a prayer request on the Contact page.

Nature’s Fare Receipts Help CSLK!

Keep collecting your Nature’s Fare receipts; they are worth a pretty penny to us! Just put receipts from your shopping into the receipt box at the back of the Studio 9 auditorium on Sundays, and Nature’s Fare will donate 3% of the total of your purchases to CSL Kelowna! Every receipt helps! Thank you!

MIND-FULL MOMENT

When the power comes from within us and we claim it as our own, then we no longer have to affirm ourselves by dominating others. The irony is that we are actually afraid of our own power.”
