Setting the Table for our Internal Song
— Rev. Barbara Samuel and Neal Klassen
“Music is the soundtrack for your life.”
— Dick Clark
The internal dialogue of the ego can appear to drown out the internal, universal song. Learn to listen closely and create a new harmony for your life.
Join Rev. Barb and Neal this Sunday, January 15 at 10:30am PT at Studio 9, 1180 Houghton Road, Kelowna, BC. Doors open at 10:15am. Please visit the event page for more details and a map. Everyone is welcome!
If you are not feeling well, please stay at home and watch us on Facebook Live.
2023 Membership Drive!
Your Voice Matters!
A message from Rev. Jeanette Vinek, CSLK Board president
We are entering into our annual membership drive at the Centre for Spiritual Living Kelowna. Every year, you have the ability to consciously choose to belong to this spiritual community, whether this is your first year or your 30th.
Now, more than ever, your membership matters. Our beloved community has big decisions to make over the next year, and the Board of Trustees needs your input.
Membership gives you the opportunity to contribute to and be involved in key Centre initiatives. Membership gives you a vote at the AGM, as well as when the time comes to choose our next spiritual director(s).
You can sign up online or fill out a membership form at Sunday service.
We need you!
Rev. Jeanette Vinek
President, Board of Trustees
This Week’s Science of Mind Theme
The Internal Song
People often talk of old tapes that run through their minds. Perhaps it’s the voice of a parent or teacher, who was trying to guide you in your youth, however unskillfully. This voice can later become internalized as a beating drum that undermines our choice to grow and to experience a more fulfilling life.
Spiritual Mind Treatment, a key practice in Religious Science, counters and even silences this ego voice by replacing these tapes with affirmative prayer that supports the individual. Through ongoing practice, we begin to hear more clearly the internal song that continuously plays with and for us.
You are never alone. We all face uncertainty and times of challenge. There is nothing to be ashamed of in having this experience. We do not hide, or sugar coat, or spiritually bypass our lived experience. What we do is support each other in moving through it. If you can’t see the truth for yourself, that’s okay. This is why we have people trained to see the truth with you. This is when you may choose to reach out to your minister or one of our licensed practitioners (see the About page on our website).
As Dr. Kenn Gordon used to say: “If you believe that I believe this for you, then borrow my belief. There is a Power in this Universe, and we can use it!”
The Universal Voice
Our new interim senior minister, Rev. Karin Wilson, gave her first official talk at CSLK’s Studio 9 location. If you missed attending that service last Sunday, January 8th titled The Universal Voice, you can watch it now on YouTube.
Rev. Corinne Crockett talked about diversity, potential and belief systems.
Our community enjoyed music by Tanya Lipscomb for the second week in a row.
She sang many great songs. We even got a chance to see her dance moves during the song You're a Bright Light!
