The World is an Oyster

— Rev. Barbara Samuel and Neal Klassen

I am a catalyst for change in the world.

It's a Soul Food Sunday with Rev. Barbara Samuel and Neal Klassen!

If an oyster did not choose to address the grain of sand that caused such discomfort, we would never experience the beauty of the pearl. An oyster takes an awful irritant, transforms it by coating it with its essence and then gives the world a beautiful gift. This is ours to do, both within ourselves and out in the world.

Join Rev. Barb and Neal this Sunday, February 19 at 10:30am PT at Studio 9, 1180 Houghton Road, Kelowna, BC. Doors open at 10:15am. Please visit the event page for more details and a map. Everyone is welcome!

If you are not feeling well, please take good care of yourself and watch us on Facebook Live.

This Week’s Science of Mind Theme

The World is an Oyster

A grain of sand entering an oyster can be transformed into a magnificent pearl. The irritant ignites the oyster into action to relieve the discomfort it is feeling. It intuitively uses that which is already present in its environment to alter the irritant.

We too can transform our world and the world around us by addressing that which is causing discomfort in our lives. And we may find that all we need already lies within us. For the oyster’s pearl to be revealed, the shell must be opened and often heat or an open fire is used to perform this action. This can be true for us as we reveal our “pearls” to the world. Change or new ideas often require a strong conviction and a hefty dose of fire-filled passion to activate their movement out into the world.

We all seem to have a strong desire to see change in the world, especially in conditions that cause discomfort in our hearts; but we don’t always know how to get started. It can feel overwhelming and we often give up before we even begin.

Don’t ignore that which brings you discomfort. Look directly at it. Bring it front and centre into your consciousness and your heart. Begin working on it with what you already have within you, and allow your curiosity to reveal greater possibilities. Slowly, the irritant will be transformed into the pearl, and when you are ready, you get to reveal it to the world!

Inquiring Minds Want to Flow

Last Sunday, February 12, Rev. Corinne Crockett gave a talk titled Inquiring Minds Want to Flow. A few people said “Rev. Corinne was on fire!” If you didn’t see it, you must! And if you did, it’s one to watch again!

Pam and Cassie were our greeters.

Neal Klassen and Rev. Barbara Samuel helped us all wake up that morning with our minds on spirit! They also sang Let Your Love Flow.

Practitioner Irene Kowalchuk gave the treatment.

Rev. Corinne handed out Hershey’s chocolate kisses.

Rev. Barb sang There is Only Love.

A big thank you to all of our volunteers who helped pack up and put things away!

MIND-FULL MOMENT

We do not change all of the patterns of our thoughts in a moment. Rather, it takes place little by little, until gradually the old thought patterns become transformed into new ones by some inner alchemy of the mind.
