Or, WATCH US ON

THIS IS OUR LAST BLOG BEFORE CHRISTMAS DAY…so we’d like to wish you a very, merry Christmas.  Of course, we will be seeing you before Christmas.  We’ll see you this coming Sunday when the amazing Crockett Family take the stage.  Rev. Corinne Crockett will deliver the inspirational message while her husband Tom and daughters Amanda and Jenn will provide the music. See you there!

The Incredible Light of Your Being

Rev. Corinne Crockett

December 22, 2024

“A new light is coming into the world. We are on the borderland of a new experience. The veil between Spirit and matter is very thin. The invisible passes into visibility through our faith in it.”

SOM 60.3

This coming Sunday, December 22nd, is a special day indeed as we approach Christmas Day & the return of the Light as the days start growing longer.

I hope you can join us for the precious experience of my family, Tom, Amanda, and Jenn stepping in as our musical inspiration for the day while Rev. Barb & Neal get a much-deserved rest. It’s been wonderful having music fill the house as they practice and prepare to be with us all.

Do we truly believe and embody the words of the song we often sing, “I am a Light?” If not, why not? Only a thin veil of mis-belief separates us from experiencing the Light we are here to be.

Light is an attribute of Spirit, the Divine essence, and intelligence that animates us all. Ernest Holmes reminds us that, “We are light, and in that light, there is no darkness. This is the Light that lightens every person’s pathway.” (SOM 366.2)

Just as light illuminates our outer world, the Divine Light within us illuminates our inner path, helping us clearly see possibilities beyond the world of form and effect.

Dr. Holmes tells us that “faith will light the place in which we find ourselves, and by the light of that faith, we will see that all is good.” Light, he explains, overcomes darkness not by struggle or combat but simply by being what it is: LIGHT. (SOM 183.2)

By simply being who we are—unique expressions of the Divine—we illuminate our own lives and naturally light the way for others.

As we approach Christmas Day and celebrate the return of the Light with the lengthening of days, let us step through that thin veil of limiting belief and stoke the flame of the Light within us, letting it blaze ever brighter.

Together, let us step into the incredible Light of our own Being and illuminate the world around us.

I hope to see you there!

Love & Blessings – Rev. Corinne

LAST WEEK'S SERVICE

Taizé Service

Last week’s service was a beautiful and sacred Taizé gathering, deepening our experience with the metaphysical meaning of the Christmas story.

People were moved at depth as they deepened in this deeply contemplative and revealing experience.

Next Sunday

Special Guest Musicians

Tom, Amanda, and Jenn Crockett

They’re back! It’s been a while since Tom and Amanda Crockett have graced our stage with their musical gifts.  On Sunday, December 22 Jenn Crockett will join them as they bless us with a blend of both contemporary and seasonal music.

Celebration of Light

WHAT A NIGHT IT WAS!

The snow on December 16 did not prevent over 120 people from attending our 32nd Annual Celebration of Light. Thanks to all the volunteers who set-up, decorated, baked and brought treats and… well, did just about everything to make this night a success.

It was great to see lots of familiar faces, and lots of new ones.

UPDATE: Secret Santa 2024

Thanks to the incredible support of our spiritual community, and donations from many people outside of our community, CSL Kenya will feed 225 families in Kenya this Christmas! It’s amazing!

Rev. Barbara Samuel and her team worked tirelessly over the past few weeks and thanks to their hard work and your generosity, they exceeded their goal.  They extend gratitude and thanks for everyone who worked on the campaign, and to everyone who donated.

Look for more details in the new year.

VISION BOARD WORKSHOP

with Rev. Melody Bailey

Start the New Year with a New Vision

Sunday, January 5th, after service

DO YOU WANT TO CREATE THE LIFE YOU WANT TO LIVE?

Do you want to let your inner child out and have some crafty, intentional fun? If so, join us for a Vision Board Workshop where we will focus on all four quadrants of life: Creativity (work, play); Health (spiritual, mental, emotional, physical); Loving Relationships and Abundance.

Supplies will be provided but if you have specific pictures cut out from magazines or printed that you wish to bring with you and include, please do so.

We will be holding this workshop on Sunday January 5th following our Sunday service from approximately 12 noon until 3 pm.  If you’re staying after service, please bring a lunch that doesn’t require extra preparation.

We will take some time for a bite to eat before beginning the workshop.  There will be a sign-up sheet at Sunday service and an RSVP on our website as we do need to know numbers to prepare.

Invitation: Okanagan Multi-Faith Assembly

Upcoming Opportunities in 2025

"So powerful is the Light of Unity that it can illuminate the whole world." ~ Bahá’u’lláh

In this sometimes-divisive world, learning from one another and standing together as Communities of Faith is powerful.

The first four assemblies have been deeply enriching, demonstrating, at the heart of it, how much faith communities have in common. The intention of these gatherings is to learn more about the diverse faith traditions who call the Okanagan home.

Our Multi-Faith connection and learning continues in the New Year!

We hope you join us for these enriching opportunities:

Buddhist Community Gathering

Date: Saturday, January 11th, 2025

Baha’i Community Presentation (Repeat Session)

Date: Saturday, February 15th, 2025

During these gatherings, you’ll experience:

  • A 30-minute presentation

  • An opportunity for questions and answers

  • A social period with beverages and desserts

These events typically conclude in under two hours.

If you’re interested in attending, please contact Rev. Corinne Crockett at corinne_crockett@telus.net for further details.

INSPIRATIONAL SONG OF THE WEEK

Ornaments

Neal Klassen

Neal Klassen performed this original song with Sista B & the Boyz

at our Celebration of Light last week.

Tinsel and baubles shine red, gold, and green

Crystal blue icicles shimmer and gleam

These are old memories

These ornaments on our Christmas tree

Lopsided angels of glitter and glue

Strings of old popcorn the kids made at school

These are sweet memories

These ornaments on our Christmas tree

Each has a story, and each has a place

Each brings a smile or a tear to my face

We store them away ‘till December, and then

The memories start over again

Baby’s first Christmas; Grandma’s old star

Sparkling snowflakes that light up my heart

Oh, the best memories

Are these ornaments on our Christmas tree
