Happy Monday, September 6, 2021

What a great talk Neal Klassen gave yesterday at our Facebook Live Sunday service. What a great shame you were left hanging for his conclusions as we lost our livestream just as he was about to share “the one thing we need to do”. Arghhh! In the studio, we were unaware the livestream hadn’t restarted for our beautiful audience, and so Neal carried on with his ending. However, it ended up that there was no video file of his conclusion. Amanda recorded Neal's conclusion today at the Peace Centre, and his full talk is now available on YouTube. I'm also going to invite him up next Sunday at the beginning of the service to also give the ‘live’ audience a chance to hear the ending. Our apologies for the glitches, we’re looking into them.

September is a busy birthday month in my family. As many of you know, Dr. Kenn celebrated his birthday yesterday; Tuesday is my mom’s 90th birthday; last week was my nephew’s birthday; Friday is my grandson’s birthday; and a little later on in the month is my daughter’s birthday. What a great month to remember the good of the people in my life.

I also want to share my sadness about a great person, one of our ministerial students from Edmonton, Ann Richman, who suddenly (after a lengthy illness) made her transition this week. She was funny, smart, and one of the most compassionate people I’ve met. Ann will be missed.

One other super important thing on my mind is a reminder that CSL Kelowna is currently asking all members and friends to help us in moving forward into what will serve our community by filling out a very short survey. We really want to know what you think and how that wants to move into our collective community consciousness. The survey closes this Wednesday, September 8th, so please fill it out. Maybe today?

We’re getting back into the swing of some of our Zoom connection times. Our Sunday morning pre-service Meditations have resumed at 9:45am every first and third Sunday of the month with the next one on September 19. The Zoom info is Meeting ID: 824 2377 7379, passcode: meditation.

Coffee and Connection with myself, Rev. Barb and friends will resume on Thursday, September 23rd at 10am Meeting ID: 848 2252 9807, passcode: connection.

Our Zoom Fellowship returns every second and fourth Sunday of the month with the next one coming up this Sunday, September 12 after the Facebook Live service ends. The Zoom info is Meeting ID: 829 8904 5903. Passcode: fellowship.

And so with those thoughts, as I look out my window, nature is definitely beginning to reflect that autumn is making its way towards us. I’m not personally crazy about the impending cooler weather, but I am definitely looking forward to our next season together.

Love to all, Dr. Deborah

MIND-FULL MOMENT

The golden opportunity you are seeking is in yourself. It is not in your environment; it is not in luck or chance, or the help of others; it is in yourself alone.
