Happy Monday, November 23, 2020

Updated: Nov 24, 2020

This week’s message from Dr. Deborah

Happy Monday and Happy Thanksgiving (this coming Thursday) to our American friends! I always love the opportunity to have gratitude be brought front and centre into my consciousness, so… thanks!

Our founder, Dr. Ernest Holmes, had this to say about gratitude:

“In everything give thanks. An attitude of gratitude is most salutary, and bespeaks the realization that we are now in heaven. How we love to do for those who cooperate with, and are grateful for, our small endeavours! Gratitude is one of the chief graces of human existence and is crowned in heaven with a consciousness of unity.”

It’s a wonderful reminder for all of us.

I have lots of new connection opportunities I want to share. If you know me at all, you know I like to make sure everyone is in the loop of what’s going on, so we can make appropriate choices for ourselves. So, here we go!

First is a reminder about our Grief Support Group. Everyone is welcome to attend this Zoom support group for any and all kinds of loss. Join Pauline Weninger RScP, Rev. Melody Bailey and Rev. Diane Hockey for prayer, care and support on Wednesdays, November 25, December 2 and December 9 at 7pm. Donations are appreciated.

Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85360175538. Meeting ID: 853 6017 5538 Passcode: Wednesday

This coming Thursday, November 26 from 10am to 11am PST is the first of our coffee and conversation gatherings: The Drop In: Coffee and Connection with myself, Rev. Barb Samuel and Rev. Gwen Smith. Thereafter, we’ll meet every two weeks. We’re going to start with a prayer, a check-in, and then we’ll see what wants to happen from the energy of the group. I’m so looking forward to ‘seeing’ everyone! The Zoom meeting number is: 848 2252 9807 and the passcode is: connection.

We’re also planning an interactive Zoom conversation to follow our Sunday Service on December 6th. I’m calling this Let’s Talk After the Talk! This will be the Sunday Six direct from our ‘studio’ at the Peace Centre here in Kelowna and you at home. My hope is that this will be our own version of fellowship time after our service. You’ll have to go from the service on Facebook Live to Zoom. (To avoid any delays on the day, please make sure you have Zoom on your computer or cell phone beforehand by downloading it from https://zoom.us/ .)

On Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 11:15am PST (after Sunday Celebration) go to: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/2508687387

Meeting ID number: 250 868 7387

Finally, I’m so sad to say that because of the new COVID-19 guidelines, we’ve had to put our plans for the in-person 28th Annual Celebration of Light on December 20th on hold. I can assure you that we’ll be doing something special at our Sunday morning service that day. I think it might even involve each of us making our own traditional Dr. Kenn's Christmas Card Mini-boxes beforehand! If you want to make one, you’ll need a Christmas card and this tutorial on YouTube (https://youtu.be/YQtee_BoQH0). We’ll work together on that morning to fill the boxes! We are also going to do everything in our power to bring you what’s become another beloved tradition, Rev. Barb Samuel’s version of “O Holy Night”. Stay tuned.

Love and blessings,

Dr. Deborah

PS: If you missed yesterday’s Sunday Celebration talk with Dr. Kenn Gordon titled Navigating in Uncertain Times, you can watch it on our YouTube channel or listen to it on the podcast.

Practitioner of the Week is Irene Kowalchuk. If you are looking for one-to-one prayer treatment support for ANYTHING, you can contact Irene directly via email at irenek13@telus.net.

MIND-FULL MOMENT

“This is the power of gathering: it inspires us, delightfully, to be more hopeful, more joyful, more thoughtful: in a word, more alive.”
