Happy Monday, May 2, 2022

Updated: May 9, 2022

Happy Monday and Happy May! Anyone else wonder how it could possibly be May already? That seems hard for me to wrap my head around!

I love that we’re slowly making our way back to being out in the greater world more and more, and I have nothing but love and respect for those who are choosing to take that path back slowly. Listening to our own intuition for what feels right for our unique selves is so important!

We’ll be back at Studio 9 next week, but not in the auditorium. We’ll be across the small walk way in a large classroom. I kind of like being back in school myself! I know that’s not likely true for everyone, and if that’s not the case, what a great opportunity to make peace with our school days. As I said at the end of my Sunday message yesterday, I love the aspect of our teaching that reminds me that whatever happens in my life is part of my spiritual practice. I think cultivating a willingness to view everything that happens (including people, events, places and circumstances) as gifts towards our growth, is such a valuable tool. No matter what’s going on, I ask myself, “is this something I can do something about?” and “is it mine to do?” If the answer is “probably not”, then accepting that “it is what it is” is invaluable. Using this awareness allows me to welcome every experience, the good, the bad, the in-between, as part of my life’s experience and not something to battle against, regret or resent. Living life from this place of conscious awareness allows me to choose a path of greater peace as I can choose where to spend my mind-space: on reactivity, conflict and strife, or on trust, faith and peace.

I got some lovely feedback about my talk yesterday (on the spice rack of our emotions) and it seems I’m not the only one who’s struggled to feel their emotions and to learn to express them appropriately. I’m glad I’m not alone!

As we move into the summer months, and now that our worlds seem to be opening up more and more, I’m aware that many of us love being outdoors, and are enjoying a perhaps more spacious life. I’d really love your feedback (yes, you!) as to what, if anything, you’d like to see scheduled for summer. I’ve traditionally not held Coffee and Connection over the summer, but I am sure willing if there’s a desire for it or for whatever might be of interest.

I am looking for your opinion, whether local or online, about:

  1. What CSL Kelowna activities would you like to see?

  2. What would serve you as we move forward as a Spiritual Community?

  3. Do you prefer to have your summers free from scheduled activities? (Except for Sunday Celebrations of course!)

I’d really love to hear from you! I promise, if you email me with your thoughts (whatever they are) at revgord@shaw.ca that I’ll respond with gratitude. Who knows what wonderful things might come out of this!

Blessings,

Dr. Deborah

If you missed yesterday’s talk by Dr. Deborah Gordon, titled What's On Your Spice Rack? you can watch the replay on Facebook. (It will be uploaded to the CSLK YouTube channel later this week.)

MIND-FULL MOMENT

Everyone who’s ever taken a shower has had an idea. It’s the person who gets out of the shower, dries off, and does something about it who makes a difference.
