Happy Monday, March 28, 2022

What a lovely weekend for our Centre for Spiritual Living Kelowna spiritual community! It started on Saturday with a beautiful gratitude and release ceremony and ritual led by Dr. Nadene Rogers to assist in our saying farewell to our Peace Centre which has served so well as our hub, our office and classroom space for the past 22 years.

We have been blessed to always know where we were going to hold a class, choir practice, meetings, practitioner sessions, our mid-week services, gratitude dinners, potlucks, and during the pandemic, where we produced our Sunday services. It has served us well and very well! Dr. Nadene helped us to acknowledge the ways it’s served us, the memories it holds and the blessing that it will be to the next owners. Thanks to those of you who were there to be in the consciousness of “Honourable Closure”.

On Sunday, we held our 29th Annual General Meeting. I always love to see who’s interested in the “state of the union” (the business part of Centre life). Thanks to those who showed up with the consciousness of support for that side of our community. (And thanks to those who attended from Mexico and Arizona!)

The highlights of the meeting covered the sale of our building; our search for our next location with a hybrid service is definitely part of our future (and that we are going on Wednesday to view a potential new rental space); a report on our finances; an amendment to our bylaws; my sharing more on my retirement; our moving forward into our new ‘next’; as well as farewell from our Executive Director, Amanda Pope, as she and Derek Hinchliffe are moving to Nanaimo to be closer to family and to start a Centers for Spiritual Living Teaching Chapter. They’ve been an integral part of our Centre for many years, serving in many capacities. We are grateful for all the gifts and talents they’ve shared with us over the years and we wish them all the best in their new endeavour.

Lastly at the AGM, I am delighted to let you know that we have two past Board members who were voted back onto our Board. Welcome back, Rev. Jeanette Vinek and Rev. Corinne Crockett.
