Happy Monday, June 28, 2021

Those of us physically here in the Okanagan Valley are in the midst of a heat wave. Yesterday’s high temperature broke all previous records by over 3 degrees, which is a lot (it was 41.3C or 107F)! I know that some of you from our global community are also in the heat, and others not so much: Hello to chilly Santa Fe, New Mexico! I love that we now have people from all over as part of our community.

I think it’s very fortuitous that the Sunday Six are taking a hiatus from our Sunday Celebrations next Sunday, July 4th. Without air conditioning and with all the heat that is given off by the lights and the electronic equipment which is required to broadcast our service, our Peace Centre studio is a little on the hot side, to say the least. I think the “Universal Planner’s” idea for us to take next Sunday off was definitely providence in action.

Our dedicated meditation team has chosen to continue with their offer of the first Sunday of the month meditation at 9:45am, so you can still be spiritually fed! As well, you can check out one of our archived talks on YouTube.

There was also a consensus among the Thursday Coffee and Conversation group to not meet July 8th. Stay tuned as we navigate the summer gatherings together.

I want to personally invite those of you who are in our local vicinity to join us in person July 11th at 1 pm for our Park Meet and Greet at Kinsmen Park (just down the street from the Peace Centre). It’s a lovely shaded park where we can start our reconnection and coming-back-together process with our fellow Centre for Spiritual Living Kelowna community members. Out of respect and awareness for all, your Board of Trustees has given careful thought to the event and are requesting an agreement to no hugs, social distancing, and masks optional according to your own comfort level. I love that we’re moving into being back together physically with intention, mindfulness and respect. I just wish there was a way to teleport our people from all over the planet to be together in person as well!

That said, our Centre is also beginning to navigate our whole re-opening process as our provincial restrictions start to be lifted more and more. We’re taking things one day at a time as there’s not a lot of 100% certainty yet.

In addition, there may be more to this than meets the eye, which may look like: “Well, just rent the Royal Anne Hotel again and open the doors.” However, there’s our commitment to continuing our livestream services, so there’s a hybrid situation to consider. There’s also re-forming our volunteer teams (and at this point in time, we’ll probably require more volunteers than previously, as we’ll need greeters, ushers, tech people, sound people, roadies, safety teams, offertory teams and others I’m sure I haven’t even thought about yet!)

Our music team, meditation team, fellowship team, practitioners and staff ministers also need consideration, as well as general operations and safety plans. Whoosh!

I know some of you are so wanting for things to be back in person and I know others of you are more cautious. I know some of you love attending in your pyjamas and others of you are from far away. So we are trying to create something that works for all, and this takes some consideration and planning.

My commitment is to keep you all as informed as I can as we move forward in this process.

My request for you is to keep our Centre in your treatment work, knowing our community is supported and wise in ALL ways and that this process is EASY and for the highest and best for all!

As always, blessings, Dr. Deborah

Hey Deb! I don't blame you a bit for taking a Sunday away from recording when it is super hot. And I wish we lived local so we could join you in the park on the 11th. We would be there for sure if we were. But you can be certain we will be joining you in August where ever you meet. It's been far too long missing you all in person. Until then...may everything unfold easy and in the highest and best way for everyone involved. ~Kathy
