What an emotional and pivotal day for CSL Kelowna as this community lovingly released Drs. Kenn and Deborah Gordon this past Sunday into their official “re-wirement”. It was a joy to have so many of you there to support them as they walked these next steps of their sacred journey.
And as they walk their journey, designed for only them, we each together begin to walk this next part of CSL Kelowna’s sacred journey, with me as your interim minister working to help you through this time.
This community holds a special place in my heart. It’s where I found Science of Mind, but more importantly, it’s where I discovered my soul, and a group of people who would support me through my own journey. I didn’t know then that I would become a minister, and certainly didn’t know I would return home to become interim minister. The Universe has an interesting way of working things out.
Experience tells me that 2023 will be a profound time for each of you as you gradually and lovingly release your cherished teachers, and truly embrace in a bigger way all that you have gleaned from them.
What I can say is this week marks a new beginning, and an opportunity to take stock of all that you love about these two teachers.
Here’s an exercise for you.
The Mirror
I recommend you take time to complete this exercise this week, as part of your welcoming in of the New Year. Take the time to do it mindfully by creating a sacred space for writing. You might want to light a candle, burn some incense, begin with an invocation to invite Spirit into this space with you.
Recall a moment or moments with either Dr. Deb or Dr. Kenn where you witnessed something that made you think and feel that “yes, this is my place, my spiritual home.”
As you review these moments, ask yourself: “what qualities did this moment demonstrate?” Perhaps it was love. If so, what kind of love? Was it compassion? Empathy? Or perhaps it was commitment, or perseverance, or kindness? How did you see them show up? What you want to do is have concrete examples in our mind of how these various qualities appeared.
Look at your list of words, and ask yourself, how did this experience make you feel?
Lastly, consider all these words, and know that as you see them in others, you can claim them as your own. This is the embodiment of legacy. This is one of many ways that you can build that bridge within yourself, by recognizing the gift that was given now belongs to you.
Post the list of qualities up on your mirror, or tucked into a favourite book, so you can meditate on them frequently. To witness a quality, means it is already alive within you. You are the community.
“Life is a mirror and will reflect back to the thinker what he thinks into it.”

Next week, I hope you will join me at the Town Hall Zoom meeting at 2pm on Sunday, January 8. I will be there along with the Board of Trustees to answer your questions about interim ministry.
If you can’t make it, you can always send me an email at info@karinwilson.ca and I will be sure to get back to you as soon as possible.
In gratitude for this time of walking together as we support each other in revealing the next great thing for CSL Kelowna.
Peace and blessings,
Rev. Karin
