Chapter Four: How To Use It

Sunday, January 28: Inspirational message

with Rev. Corinne Crockett

For the first four weeks of January, we are reviewing the first four chapters of The Science of Mind, by Ernest Holmes, a book that Holmes himself said was not a special revelation but rather a culmination of all revelations.

This week we are on Chapter 4: What it Does

Having revisited the first three chapters of the text, the fourth chapter, “How To Use It,” reminds us that Spirit, God, Love, The Thing Itself can only do for us what it can do through us. We must create the inner conditions through trust, faith, and practice.

According to Rev. Dr. Jim Lockard, “If we currently feel inadequate to the challenges we face, it is a signal to go within and call forth something new – greater love, strength, awareness, etc. Our challenges call us toward greater mastery of our teaching so that we might realize the greater Truth of our being. There is no limit to what is within us, but it cannot serve us unless we call it forth into expression.”

These are our times, and we are the people, living and practicing this teaching as we participate in creating a world that works for all.

See you Sunday!

Notice of Annual General Meeting: February 25th

Awakening to more in 2024! It is the time of year for us to hold our annual business meeting where we review the business affairs of the last year, share where we are at in the process of calling in our new Senior Minister, thank our hardworking Board of Trustees, and vote in our new Board members.

The Annual General Meeting of the Centre for the Spiritual Living Kelowna Society takes place on February 25th , 2024 at 12PM at Studio 9 (right after service).

We have made a conscious decision to return to our practice of business meetings being in person. There will not be an online version this year. This is an open meeting and everyone is welcome to attend; however, you must be officially signed up and registered as a 2023 member to vote.

Sign up for Membership:

This year, more than ever, your voice matters as we engage in the work of calling in our new Senior Minister(s). We need you!

If you aren't yet a member of the Centre for Spiritual Living Kelowna and you would like to be able to vote at this AGM, please make sure you've signed up for Membership by 5pm on February 24th , 2024.

We look forward to seeing you there.

An Introduction to the Background and Basic Principles

of the Religious Science Philosophy

Facilitated By: Rev. Diane Hockey & Rev. Corinne Crockett

Investment: Gratitude Offering

The specific intentions of the day are:

  • To have an experience of “Spiritual Community.”

  • To gain an understanding of “Religious Science.” Of what it is, where it comes from, and what it teaches.

  • To clarify your own concept of God or the Divine in relationship to what is taught in “Religious Science.”

  • To identify some object, condition, or circumstance that you would like to create in your life.

  • To leave with the spiritual tools to begin creating the desired outcome you have identified above.

The “Religious Science QuickStart” program materials have been created through the use of the latest advancements in “whole brain” learning technologies.

A Call For Board Members

A Message from CSL Kelowna’s President, Jeanette Vinek

Our community is looking for conscious, active and engaged members within our Centre who are interested in serving on our Board of Trustees.  Our Board has been stewarding our Centre through its transition to a new Senior Minister, and we are excited about the possibilities that are emerging.

Our organization’s purpose is to awaken humanity to its spiritual magnificence to create a world that works for everyone.   It’s big and bold and beautiful.  Would you like to be a part of steering the direction of our Centre to meet this Vision?

The Board of Trustees is responsible for administering the financial and legal affairs of the Centre.  The Board participates in the planning, development and implementation of its physical and financial goals and objectives.

  1. Board members shall be current members of CSL Kelowna

  2. Each board member must have completed or be in the process of completing foundational Science of Mind classes.

  3. Each board member attends services on a regular basis, supports workshops and attends Centre functions whenever possible.

  4. Each board member is willing to provide regular identifiable financial support to the Centre through enrolment in the Conscious Giving Program.

  5. Each board member is expected to support the vision of the Centre’s ministry

  6. Board members are team players who recognize that the key to effective partnership is harmony and a loving attitude.

  7. Board members are committed to serving a 3-year term, attend monthly meetings and serve throughout the month by participating in committee work, ongoing functions and affairs of the Centre as required.

  8. Board members recognize that the Board of Trustees is an integral part of the spiritual leadership of CSL Kelowna, and they understand the importance of their commitment. They act in a professional manner and model the principles of Science of Mind.

  9. Board members respect the necessity of confidentiality in their position on the Board of Trustees. The Board will discuss and come to an agreement on how each decision is to be disseminated to the membership.

  10. The Board of Trustees operates under a principle of shared leadership using the 3 ‘C’s; clarity, consensus and commitment. Where it is legally required, decisions will be taken to a vote.

  11. Board members are expected to support the Board in the execution of each decision.

  12. All Board members are to be mindful at all times of their conduct in relating to one another as well as to the congregation at large. Board members are to demonstrate ethical, respectful, courteous behavior at all times and to extend a warm welcome and conversation with any and all CSL members and visitors.

If you are interested in more information or applying to serve as a Board member, please connect with Irene Kowalchuk at

Words & Music by Neal Klassen

There's a million stars in the sky, so far away

It takes years for the light to reach here

Some of the stars have died, but still I see them shine

And they'll still be my guide
