This Week’s Science of Mind Theme
Boldly Living a New Story
If we are honest, what stories do we continue to tell about our past that are not the most life-affirming? What if we commit to changing the narrative?
The soul contains a record of everything that has ever happened to us. These memories constitute the subjective tendency of the individual life. This tendency can be changed through constant effort.
We have all kinds of stories: factual, fill-in-the-blank stories, make believe stories, stories about ourselves and stories about other people. We make up stories about people in line at a grocery store or bank or on Facebook.
Whenever our lives change, whether it’s starting a new job or business, trying to change a habit, leaving something, or even burning the toast, we tell ourselves a story about it. We might be the hero, the victim, the wrongdoer, the innocent bystander, or the observer of our story. We want to be the hero of our stories, but more often we are the victim.
If we give up what we have been telling ourselves most of our lives, then who are we? Remember the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin. You need not toil or spin or be anxious for a bold new story, but instead simply be here now.
Give thanks for your past and all that you have become. Give thanks for the old story you needed in the past, and begin to embrace the now. The place where you can choose to create a bold new story is in the now!

MIND-FULL MOMENT
“This is the story of your life. Just keep right on knocking at the doorway of your consciousness until every ‘no’ become a ‘yes’, every negation an affirmation, every fear a faith.”
